Why use a Medical Foot Spa?
A medical foot spa takes great precaution to ensure the health of the feet of every person. Care is taken to avoid any risk of spreading fungal infections and any other ailments which can happen at any regular foot spa. It involves the use of sterilized tools for each client and uses a fresh basin if the client chooses a therapeutic water pedicure.
We also offer the option for a waterless pedicure if the client so chooses. Medical pedicures provide the safest pedicure option for any person who has any kind of medical condition (immunocompromised – diabetic, vascular issues) that could impair healing or have significant abnormalities to the nails or feet that must be carefully managed.
What is a Medical Pedicure?
A medical pedicure includes a full assessment by our certified nail technician who will then provide recommendations based on those findings. This allows the client to ask questions about their feet and to help prevent any nail conditions or avoid any nail disorders. You may be referred to a podiatrist if the nail technician believes you may need any additional treatment or a consultation.
Here is an overview of what our medical pedicure entails:
During our medical pedicure, our nail technician will review the intake form and will evaluate any concerns with your feet and nails. The nail technician will then be able to provide you with all the pedicure package options based on what ailments may need to be addressed. As part of the assessment, your nail technician will evaluate your feet for a few various signs which include:
- Skin conditions – including pressure areas of callusing, skin irritations, dermatitis, or any open wound
- Infection conditions – including bacterial or fungal infections, wart conditions which are viral
- Nail conditions – including thickened toenails, discoloration to toenails, and trauma resulting in damaged toenails
After your assessment, your nail technician will offer you options for packages including water based or waterless based pedicure options. Small callus lesions will be treated with callus softener and any large callus lesions are recommended to be trimmed by your podiatrist prior to your appointment. We are extremely focused on creating a very detail oriented medical pedicure with this service being personalized to you and using our expert level care in combination with therapeutic benefits.
